I had never heard of "paleofitness" until I read an article on it. It was an interesting concept, but then it hit me that this is essentially what I already do. In fact, all of you have probably done it in one way or form when you were kids. It is essentially just playing with one stipulation: do it outside. And so now, whenever asks me what I'm doing while I'm climbing around in the Fig tree (pictured) in my backyard? Well, I can just say I'm doing some "paleofitness" and sound all official about it. Maybe I can even convince them to join me and play a bit. There aren't enough adult playgrounds.

Protect Your Noggin!
I've seen way too many people skating around and getting in some gnarly situations without a helmet on. Protect your noggins! As a side note, this is my new triple eight brainsaver with some custom doodle artwork.

The Devil's Apple
Found in the hills of the Big Creek Reserve, Big Sur
"Notorious for its toxicity, Jimson Weed is a large flowering plant with the genus Datura and the family Solanaceae. It has long white trumpet-like flowers. Its seeds grow in pods and can be consumed (or its leaves can be smoked) to produce an extremely potent psychoactive effect.
A typical dose is 5 to 7 seeds, but it has been reported effective in as little as 2. An overdose can cause delirium, delusions, paralysis, stupor and death. This is due to its dangerous combination of atropine, scopolamine, and hyoscyamine.
Its effects are said to always trigger a 24 to 48 hour anticholinergic delirium, which basically means the user is incapable of distinguishing fantasy from reality - NOT to be confused with hallucination in which the user may know is false interpretation. Overall, no matter how bizarre things get, the user will still find the twisted reality credible.
Users report when they are not hallucinating, they still are susceptible to abnormal actions which the user perceives as normal, and things the user would never do seem like just an everyday activity: ie. Rearranging furniture into one corner of the room in a very obviously impractical way, but the user, completely aware of what they are doing still does not see it as abnormal and may believe they are doing something useful."

Acroyoga In the Park
So I met this guy slacklining and he invited me to do some acro yoga with him and his crew at the farmers market last week. Being that it has always been something I wanted to try, I couldn't refuse. I must admit that I spent most of my time behind the camera after a few sun salutes and variation to warm up. I did, however, get the "fly" someone for my first time (thats the term for what the person on the ground does). Man it is a lot of work! It is definitely something I want to check out again, though.
note to self: i need to email him the photos...

Dirty Feet

I always have dirty feet, even after I shower. It's probably because I spend a lot of time barefoot, especially when in grass and dirt and now I just have a layer of perma-dirt on the bottom of my feet along with some useful calluses ha. I know I've had a good day I come home and my feet are nice and dirty. Some people really don't like feet, and I don't entirely understand why. I find them fantastically useful.

Flowers, Aromatics, Sex

"The aroma of flowers, from which we have borrowed our perfumes, while extremely powerful, has been from the beginning entirely seductive in its intentions. A rose is a rose is a rogue. Perfume, fundamentally, is the sexual attractant of flowers, or, in the case of civet and musk, of animals. Squeezed from the reproductive glands of plants and creatures, perfume is the smell of creation, a sign dramatically delivered to our senses of the Earth's regenerative powers - a message of hope and a message of pleasure."

Stomach Flu

It's been going around and I managed to catch it. Im running off of nearly no energy, and because i can't really eat much right now, I'm not able to have my usual energy snack, mixed nuts. I'm gonna stick to the BRAT diet for a few days (bananas, rice, apple sauce, and toast) and see if I can't come out of this thing quickly.

What an Upset

So yesterday, we had the day off from school (being Veteran's day and all) so I decided it would be a nice study break to run over to the ARC and go for a climb. I checked to see if the ARC was even open and it said that it did not run holiday hours over Veteran's day. I run over there, however, only to find that the ARC is open but the rock wall is closed all day. Bummer.
I then proceeded to go on a six mile run.
My legs are sore.

Tea Does a Body Good

Especially on a rainy day. I always owe a lot of my good health to the amount of green tea that I drink. Whether or not the association is true or not, well I'm not entirely sure. But nonetheless, I shall continue to drink my tea on an almost daily basis, nice and strong.

Running
Last night I started running with one of my friends again, which will be good for both of us. The last time I ran, really, was when I did the Double Dipsea over summer break. Currently I'm running in Nike Free 7.0s and they're wonderful. Then, I read this recently and I think I'm going to experiment a little bit. Updates to come.
