Deville Bomber Wheel Review

So, it's been quite awhile, but maybe i'll try and be better at posting a little more? I spent most of my summer without a computer so things feel a bit strange, but I figure with the raining months coming I can catch up on my backlog of photos...maybe.
Regardless, here is a review I did before the summer started for Skateslate. Check out the goods on some slippy slide wheels by Deville. Review HERE.

Creatures While You Wait

It has been a hell of a first week living in my new home and I think it will only get better. That being said, however, I'm not sure how often I'll keep posting. I'm still taking lots of photos, but I'm just not on my computer as much. Anyways, here are some more insects!

A caterpillar nomming and a butterfly laying its next generation.

Caught in a Web

Lots of things happening all at once in my life right now, but I'm trying to make the most out of the time I left before school. Things need to happen, and then other things happen, so other things need to change. I just hope there's room for it all!

Life and Death

Joy and sorrow. The delicate balance of it all. It is all so necessary; desired and despised at the same time. Its observed in nature all the time, but when it hits us in our lives, it hits hard. Rest in peace, Grandpa, you were one of the strongest willed men that I knew. I'll miss you.

Skulls and the Past Life

Slowly, I build my natural history museum from where ever I can. It is not much so far, but it is growing. People sometimes think I'm strange. I just say I'm an aspiring wildlife biologist.

Summer Puzzle

And so, the pieces of my summer are slowly coming together and fitting pretty nicely. If everything happens, then this will be an amazing season.

Domes March 5/25

Here are a few of my favorite shots from the march on the 25th to save the domes.
Gathered in front of Mrak, Janaki and Michelle give another nonviolence speech.
Easily my favorite shot. Heres the march going down the side of the quad. So many supporters!
Lots of photographers at the event.
Also some fat beats provided by good friends and their speaker bike.

Also, one of my friends, Mona, requested me to print out a bunch of hard copies of the prints so that she could make a photo album of them. Hopefully I'll get to see it soon!

Day 365: A Look Onto the Horizon

So, if you weren't aware, I initially started this blog to try and do a 365 project. That is, where I post a photo a day for an entire year. This plan went extremely well (with a few exceptions when my computer died and I had to stop updates for a bit) in my opinion and definitely helped me develop my photography a bit more.

And what exactly does day 365 mean for you, my loyal followers? Well, don't worry, not too much will change on my site. I will likely stop the daily updates and only post when I have new photos that I'd like to share. Also, I may start posting multiple photos together instead just one a day. Who knows? Anyways, I'm glad you have joined me in photography journey and hope you've enjoyed it as much as I have!

The photo above is of a lighthouse in Point Arena. I won't stop daily updates yet since I still have a few more Mendocino photos to post.

Also, I should be getting a new camera soon =D

Save the UC Davis Domes

Also known as Baggin's End, the Domes is the most interesting place on campus in my opinion. Made up of about 28 students who are committed to living and cooperating in a sustainable manner with each other as well as the environment, it really is an amazing place. These past few months I have spent a lot of time at this student based cooperative community and have experienced countless new things--whenever I am there, I feel as though I'm in the presence of this awesome energy, and whenever I leave, I feel inspired. If you live in Davis or the surrounding area and you have never experienced the Domes first hand, then you really do need to, and soon...

Sadly, the current landlord of the Domes, UC Davis Student Housing, has decided that the 39 year old Domes are no longer inhabitable and that they need to be taken down in order to build up new housing structures. The current residents are supposed to evacuate the premises by the end of July. This, my friends, is a travesty. There is currently a strong student movement that is aiming for continual habitation of the UCD Domes and to "request that UCD acknowledge the community’s worth by protecting and nurturing it as they move forward with the proposal of the Sustainable Living/Learning Community" as Kara Sweeney, a fellow Domes advocate says.

Here is the vision statement of the domes according to our wiki page:
""As members of the Domes Community, we choose to promote and exemplify a lifestyle that incorporates the following: living practices including organic agriculture and permaculture, low-impact construction, energy efficiency, alternative forms of waste management and the general reduction of our ecological footprint, which allow us to meet our needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs. interdependence on levels ranging from emotional to economic. understanding of differences and conflict resolution through the consensus process. To encourage creativity, inspiration, initiative, personal growth and diversity. To structure our place and our community as an accessible educational resource for each other, the University of California at Davis, and the greater community of the world."

This community is invaluable to Davis as a whole and it would be horrible if it were to be bulldozed so that some more high rise student housing could be built on the historic site. If you would like to help in any way please just ask or if you have a Facebook, you can join the open group called "Save the Domes." We need all the support we can get.

It's Been Awhile

Since my last post. Had some technical difficulties. But now I'm back. And I'm staring down the long road to day 365.

Facebook

Somewhat off topic picture of Sean.

It is a strange thing, but really, it has just become a more stalkerish and in depth version of e-mail. And it is convenient for keeping in touch with people, to say the least. It is funny, though, that really anyone could be on someone else's facebook. My friend, Sean, was on mine for a good hour or so last night chatting with a few different people (I of course was there to supervise) but it took those few people a little while to figure out it wasn't me. Facebook rules (not like it is awesome, but like it is an dictator) in todays civilization. Get outside while you still can, before the next big craze hits. In a few months facebook may be gone, and most likely, everyone will be checking their Blazzle every day instead.
