Loaded's New Steed: The Chubby Unicorn Photos

The Loaded Chubby Unicorn. The pudgy mythical beast in all its cushy glory.
Behold its delicious curves. Its cradling concave. Its inviting platform.
The simplistic beauty of its coy inlayed graphic.
And the whorl of features that can sometime be too much to wrap your head around, but is ultimately what makes me so excited about having my grimy little hands on this board. I have been and will continue to get well acquainted with this equine creation in preparation for my upcoming review. Check out Skateslate around the date of the product release (Dec 4th). For now, you can read more about the magic and craft that went into this board on Loaded.

Getting Intimate with the Loaded Kanthaka: Preview Photos

The Loaded Kanthaka. A reliably speedy and agile steed.
Ready for popping, sliding, and general all around gnaritude. Those curves, like waves of grain, amplifying your ultimate shredding experience to a higher state.
A graphic to remind you of what else lay out there, reminiscent of the old Tan Tien proto graphics.
This board makes my feet happy and has flare with room to spare. I have been and will continue to get intimate with this street slaying stallion in preparation for my upcoming review. Check out Skateslate around the date of the product release (Dec 4th). For now, you can read more about the essence of this board on Loaded.

Flashback: Burning Man pt 1

Some shots that maybe you have seen, or maybe you haven't. These are from Burning man 2011, my first burn.
The road into burning man. We came very early tuesday and did not have to wait in line at all.
One of my favorite art installitions...Ouroboros (snake eating itself).
View from inside the temple. The chimes that played 24/7 were amazing.
Sometimes Love is all you need.
Dream car...okay maybe not, but it is the coolest dune buggie I've ever laid my eyes on.
Ribbon dancing seems like one of those things I should try my hand at.

Flashback: Burning Man pt 2

Some shots that maybe you have seen, or maybe you haven't. These are from Burning man 2011, my first burn.
partner hooping at a juggler/poi/hoop camp I discovered and loved.
Burlesque show at Dark Sparkle camp.
"Fuck work" brilliant sticker.
The loyal subjects bowing down.
Fire, Fire, everywhere...this guy decided he wanted a drink.
The temple burn. A truly magnificent experience.

Barefoot Longboarding

Theres something to be said about longboarding barefoot. In my eyes, its a bit of a controversial subject. On one hand, it can be viewed as incredibly unsafe. And for good reason. In some situations, the most logical way to slow down is by dragging your foot on the ground. On the other hand, however, it is an extremely liberating activity.

The increased feeling between the board and the bottoms of your feet. Feeling the vibrations picked up from the asphalt, dampened by your wheels, bushing, and flex. I don't know, maybe its just me, but I think it's great.

Of course, I do not do anything like the video that I linked above (Striker is insane). I'll cruise. At speeds as fast as I'm comfortable going. I definitely skate way more cautiously without shoes on so that if something were to take me by surprise, I'd be able to react to it without getting hurt.

I think the best is skating barefoot in the rain. The first time I did it was simply because I was coming home from a late class, it was raining, and I didn't feel like getting my shoes and socks wet. Talk about a tactile revelation. I was hooked. And now, since I prefer to go barefoot on most occasions anyway, it just makes sense to longboard barefoot from time to time. Know what I'm saying?

Anyways, give it a try. And don't bash it till you try it. Hopefully you'll get the same sort of experience out of it that I do.

Dark Sparkle

Big shout out to everyone at Dark Sparkle IV last night! You guys are all awesome and I love you. Thanks for one blissful hell of an experience that I am not soon to forget. Everyone truly was the right kind of Creepy.

"Dark Sparkle is the potent mix of the mysterious and the dangerous that makes something irresistibly attractive, it's what causes people to push their limits to the point of insanity, it's what causes nice guys to finish last, it's that unexplainable quality that pulls people to the dark side.

You see, Dark Sparkle the First was simply a flash in the pan, a one-off stab at piercing through the mirror. But we were unsatisfied with that fleeting glimpse, we wanted more, nay we needed more. So the next year we got Straight Nasty. This time we went definitely broke through, but it was just a flirtation, an ephemeral exploration of an idyllic, but remote and seemingly unattainable philosophy. We had gained an appreciation for the perpetually pervading power of the Sparkle but we we're unable to contain it's enormity. Down with Dirty was about taking the next step; a collective realization that Dark Sparkle is more than a trashy scheme to get you shaking it in your leather skivvies, it's a way of life. We've come a long way in the last year and i think we are ready to go forth toward Dark Sparkle the Fourth. With The Right Kind of Creepy we hope to complete the transformation from Dark Sparkle being simply incorporated into the fabric of our lives, to the realization that Dark Sparkle is the very fabric of our existence."

Btw, the shot up top is not from last night, but from Ecstatic Dance the other day.

The Last Supper

I just experienced something beyond food. I'm not even sure if I could aptly describe the amount of satisfaction that I just received from eating at Thierry Rautureau's restaurant, Rover's, in Seattle. I can assure that this meal far surpassed anything that has ever touched my taste buds, and every single bit of it was vegetables. I may have spent a ridiculous sum of money on it, but I would have payed much much more if I had known the caliber of the food I received. Also, we had a pleasant chat with the Chef in the Hat himself, Misseur Rautureau. I am in an elated state.
