Hats Off

So I'm putting up tuesdays post early because I won't be able to reach a computer. I will be in LA apparently. This means i will need a hat. Why, you ask? Because I sunburn wayyyy too easily. Yaddidi?

Flowers

So many flowers in bloom around. It is pretty awesome. I need to learn the names of them all, for my own reasons of course. My mom thinks they're giving me allergies, but I really don't care, nor can I confirm it. They're just so damn colorful.

Fruita

Here is some unidentified fruit that I ate on my hike the other day. It was pretty tasty, a bit bitter, but overall good. The picture, to me, looks quite summery

New Frankenboard, More Bearings

My buddy spencer wanted a longboard for getting around Berkley during the summer since he's stuck there taking classes. Well he didn't want to spend a bunch of money and I didn't have an extra longboard just laying around for him. However, I did have enough parts to throw together a commuter (a regular skate deck with wider trucks, 1/2" risers, and 69mm wheels). Sure, it looks like shit, but it rolllllllls. Bone swiss bearings in there, baby. Don't kill yourself, spency.

Did you know this is 35 percent alcohol? I didn't. Stuff is flamable.

Off Into the Wilderness

I went for a hike this morning at the crack of dawn (around 5:40). It was quite frigid. I brought along my current book, Of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck. Most people read this when there in middle school and don't really appreciate it at all; it is kind of sad. Sure it is a really short read at about 100 pages, but the story itself is really well written and wonderfully powerful. I thought it deserved a reread and I was quite right.

On another note, I've kind of been on a Steinbeck binge. I finished up Travels With Charley before Of Mice and Men and now I'm about to read Cannery Row next, unless of course my book comes in the mail (The SCUM Manifesto). Yea, I've read six books so far.

Organs: The Musical Rejects

Why are there always so many organs for sale in thrift shops? I just don't understand it. They're such awesome instruments and they are like the precursor to the keyboard. I mean, granted, someone could buy a keyboard and get more sounds and more variability in sound while also taking up less room, but still. Having an organ is like having a piece of music history. And yet, people continue to throw them out on sidewalks and dump them in thrift stores where you can pick em up for next to nothing...Oh well, one man's trash is another man's treasure in this instance. Although it seems like I see a lot more treasure in this world than most.
