So, today i took the dimensions of the frames I'm thinking of using, and this is really going to be interesting. Also, i found an old 1" threaded road fork that I forgot I had. ALSO, it turns out the coaster wheel doesn't quite fit into the rear dropouts of the bottom frame I would like to use...so either I somehow extend the axle (I'm trying to think of easy ways i could do that) on the wheel or bend the frame to make it fit. So yea, this should be a fun project. Still havn't told the parentals. Planning on by the welder and starting practicing when I'm out for summer, a week from wednesday.

Alcoholic Condiments?
Not really sure about these guys, maybe someone could fill me in? I just found em in the local safeway right next to each other. Definitely would like to try some though.

Pinecone Birdfeeders
The other day my friends set out to make some pinecone birdfeeders. They slathered on some peanut butter and stuck bird seed to them and hung them from trees. This attracted dozens of squirrels, of course, which in turn attracted a cat. It was a nice little representation of the food chain, haha. Anyways, the bird feeders are all gone and taken off by squirrels now, but it was a good idea. Just not super practical.

Field Study
So I've been gathering data the past few weeks on how members of the Corvidae family, in Davis, use different habitats at different times of the day. Today I rode out to the field that I had been using as my site and stood there for an hour, cataloging birds (only crows, yellow-billed magpies, and scrub jays) and their activities. Good stuff. I usually get some strange looks from passerbys though.

Meadowlark
A meadowlark that is slowly decomposing at the site of my study.
So as I've been doing this research project of mine in avian science, I've been bringing my camera into the field and taking shots of anything I find interesting at the time. Here is one of my favorite results so far after a bit of post-processing.

Tall Bike Update
So, this looks like its actually going to happen now. I'm planning on buying an entry level arc welder when I get out of Davis and I'm on the lookout for a wheel with a coaster hub on it so i don't have to worry about setting up brakes. Theres one that has been sitting outside of the segundo dc for months so I think I'll just scrape that one night this week. This is going to be fun.

In Rainbows
I've been learning to do more and more stuff with my photo editing program, Photoscape. Just kind of fooling around and such. I put this guy together. Reminded me of the Radiohead album In Rainbows. If you havn't heard it yet, you should definitely check it out. I'm a big fan of Reckoner and Bodysnatchers. Get lost in some color, my friends.

Emergence
This is a theory I learned about today in bio and I thought it was pretty interesting. Essentially, it is the idea that with enough interacting "agents" or parts with energy running through them, complexity will begin to form and patterns will emerge out of the non-complex parts. It is kind of counter intuitive at first, due to the whole decomposition thing, but I think it makes a lot of sense and can explain a lot of things. Check it.

Tall Bikes and Tools
So I've been thinking about it lately and I'm going to attempt to make a tall bike this summer. For those of you who don't know what a tall bike is, it's essentially two bike frames on top of each other that have been connected for the sake of pure bicycle fun. Ive got a mtb and a bmx frame lying around so I figure ill try and work out something with those. Gonna need all the tools for this. It ain't gonna look pretty, I can tell you that for sure. Ill let you guys know more as the project gets underway.

Hippie Fest Day 2
Sorry about not having a day 1 post. But the Whole Earth Festival is happening in Davis all this weekend and its pretty awesome. One giant congregation of hippies. Lots of cool hand crafted goods and foods and stuff you don't need to buy. Yesterday there was dubstep and fire dancing. In my opinions it was a great way to kick it off. Heres a shot of one of the jewelry booths.

To the Lighthouse
Currently reading To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf. It's very difficult. Stupid stream of consciousness brit lit...But it's not too terrible, it can be kind of fun to discuss.

Pizza
A little bit ago, a few of my friends and I cooked an epic birthday dinner for our bud, Spencer. Turned out awesome. The menu included New York Steaks, Salmon, twice baked potatoes, and some gourmet hot chocolate and new york style cheese cake. Not to mention these deliciouso sun dried tomato and olive pizzas. Everything on the menu was made from scratch. I see more cooking in the future.

Olives
Did you know that there tons of different types of olives? I sure as hell didn't. I thought there were only two: green and black. My friends and I were cooking the other day and my friend kept saying we needed KALTLALATMA olives or something like that (the hell if I know). Turns out they were kalamata. Also, there are manzanilla, picholine, niçoise, liguria, ponentine, gaeta, lugano, sevillano. Its ridiculous.

As promised, here are three more pictures from the decrepit, blown up house by my friends. Just A Fading Fucking Reminder Of Who I Used To Be, alien hooks, and a gnarbar toilet.
