Well, sadly, I didn't actually get to catch and band any waterfowl. There were none at the site where the rocket net was set up at the Yolo Bypass. But we did get to shoot it off anyways which was a valuable (and loud) learning experience. Here is the aftermath of the net in the water. Normally you have about 30 ducks underneath the net, but oh well. Better luck next time.

Field Biology
I have so many research project going on right now it's hard to keep track.
WFC 195 - Affects of weather on incubation times in Brandt's Cormorants and how it affects their foraging.
WFC 136 - Flight initiation distance in urbanized Mallard ducks in Davis, CA.
WFC 155L - habitat use of Piciformes in relation to invertebrates collected at specific field sites at Cache Creek Nature Preserve. This shot is of my friend record some data after invert sampling at one of our field sites. Fun stuff!

Teamwork
The Utilikilt
Honestly, the most badass piece of clothing a man can own next to a tuxedo (unless, of course, you combine the two). The ultimate in form follows function, ha! I really think I ought to invest in one soon...though they are a bit pricey.

The Canon 50mm f/1.8 II
It's a damn fine lens for how much you pay for it. Great for when you want to take decently sharp photos without carrying around a big ol chunky lens. Also good for shooting in low light. I bought it awhile ago and only used it a handful of times, and today, I sold. Maybe i'll look into another prime lens when I get some money, but for now I'm happy with my 10-2omm and my 24-70mm. Good times.

Ladybird Beetle
bugsbugsbugs. Been looking at so many insects recently. They're a lot cooler than most people give them credit for. Why am I doing this? Because I'm working on a project that investigates correlations of invertebrates (both family and quantity) in relation to the presence of Piciformes species. Its fantastic! Gets me a chance to climb trees, sweep net for insects, and bird watch all at the same time.
